Bridgewater is located in Windsor County, Vermont.  It is bordered by the town of Woodstock, and is located 17 miles from Windsor, and 45 miles from Montpelier.
It includes the hamlets of Bridgewater Center, Bridgewater Corners, Bridgewater Village and West Bridgewater. 

Bridgewater was settled in 1780.  Iron ore, rock crystal, gneiss, quartz, soapstone, limestone, garnets and Mice slate are all found in Bridgewater.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Bridgewater was home to 980 residents.  This included 395 households and 250 families.  The average family size in Bridgewater was 3.08 and the average household size was 2.48.  Bridgewater Vermont is comprised of 49.5 square miles of land.
