Roxbury is located in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, and is the smallest township in the county.  It was incorporated in 1812 from parts of Nelson, Marlborough and Keene.   Roxbury is comprised of 11.9 square miles of land and .3 square miles water.

Roxbury was home to some of the most top-quality granite quarries in the state, which were used widely throughout the region.  Most notably, they provided the granite for New York’s capital building in Albany.

Roxbury offers many recreational opportunities including bicycle trails, cross country skiing and snowmobile trails.  Located on the border of Roxbury and Keene is the Granite Gorge Ski Area, which provides snowboarding, downhill racing, downhill skiing, snow tubing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Roxbury’s population at the time included 237 people, 66 families, and 89 households.  The average family size was 3.12 and the average household size was 2.66.
